![]() ![]() Someone that had this happen to him recommended a blue sea battery switch and it seems to be a good option, but yours looks interesting. I’ve read about a few instances of control boxes catching fire while trucks are not running and I’m thinking of options to prevent this. Please elaborate on the circuit breaker for the winch. Does anyone here have any experience installing an sPOD or SwitchPro or something similar in their engine compartment for controlling external accessories. I’m not sure about the switch pro though. Ive seen many different rigs that use just a Switch Pros or sPod power panel system for the main wiring harness on Trophy Trucks and a few Ultra4 cars. The trigger 4 has two 30 amp circuits and the other two are less. Each circuit on the bantam x is good for 30 amps I believe. Be aware that sPod doesn’t recommend wiring up the ARB twin compressor or even a winch to it because those draw too much amperage. The bantam x is a bit on the expensive side, but it makes adding accessories extremely easy. You could also purchase a premium option in the app to create your own custom flashing/strobe, among other things. The Spod all 8 circuits are 30 Amp where the. I think for control pad placement this is a distinct benefit of the Switch Pros. It has many features that allow dimming, strobe, flash, and momentary. The Switch Pros control pad is slightly smaller and will fit in the location just above the mirror controls and below the AC vent in the 5th gen. Need to come up with a battery switch that can handle the amp draw or circuit breaker like you’ve done.ītw, OP, I use the sPod bantam x and it has worked great. At this point, I’ve disconnected the positive lead from the winch and will only connect it when it’s in use now. Program and control the system from switch panel pad or smart phone Bluetooth interface with FREE Apple or Android App Battery Voltage Readout on App. There has been at least two instances of fires that I’ve heard of for the smitty. There is a switch to turn off the wireless remote but that doesn’t help with a fire starting in the control box. I’m not sure about other brands, but the winch is basically on 24/7. I have a smittybilt x20 12k winch and there is no on/off switch. Click to browse our different product collections. What did you do and what parts did you use? I will plan to add the ARB single compressor.Click to expand. Please elaborate on the circuit breaker for the winch. This is the reason why I chose switch pros. It's circuits can support higher draw (35 vs 30 amps) than the sPOD, it's weather sealed, it has native Bluetooth support all in a smaller and cheaper package. ![]() I'm not super technical, but it appears to me that the SwitchPro is technically better. Moving to a smaller setup while adding a BlueSea fusebox will solve this. Unfortunately, the sPod turned off circuits (mainly my fridge) which draw very little power which was less than ideal. With my current setup, I had my sPod mounted on the fusebox connected to my secondary battery then all my accessories connected to the sPod to keep wiring as clean/centralized as possible. I really liked the PowerTray setup which allowed for mounting a SwitchPro, ARB Single and a BlueSea fuse box all together. I personally am switching from an sPod to a SwitchPro. I think many SwitchPro installs are using the PowerTray combined with a BlueSea terminal block to clean up wiring, avoiding a bunch of butt splices. The basic architecture is the same, but with the Switch Pro youre not getting. ![]() The switch-pros has variable inputs, but you can link up to 3 switch panels to 1 power unit. The Bantam X is real neat as all the inputs are 30 Amp and can daisy chain up to 4 modules linked to 1 touch screen. The power supply to the SwitchPro needs a fuse (included). sPOD is neat, but for simple functionality the Switch Pro is a better bet. 1 I've been looking at a main way to control all my lights and narrowed it down to either the switch-pros or sPod. ![]()
